Everything About Dried Flowers

The history of dried flowers goes back quite a long time. They were frequently used for various purposes in ancient Egypt and during the Victorian era in England. You can obtain dried flowers from relevant sources, or you can perform the process yourself. A new method, "shock freezing," which has emerged particularly in the Far East in recent years, is becoming increasingly popular. In fact, special facilities are being established solely for this process.

Dried flowers can be used at different times, in different places, and for different purposes. They are especially used in wedding flowers and accessories, arrangements, wreaths, and frames.

If you want to create your own dried flowers, here are a few tips that might help you…

Drying by Pressing

This is the most common method, and one that almost everyone has tried at some point in their lives. You can achieve the desired result by placing flowers between the pages of a book and leaving them there for a few weeks. The important detail in this process is that after your flowers dry, they will have a two-dimensional form, not a three-dimensional one.

Drying Flowers in a Microwave Oven

This method, which is quite simple, is one of the frequently used ways to dry flowers. Flowers placed inside the microwave will give the desired result after about a minute. However, the detail to be noted in this method is that the flowers should have a low moisture content.

Drying by hanging

First, you can obtain wonderful dried flowers by cleaning the leaves off your flowers and hanging them in a place where they can be exposed to direct sunlight. However, it is important that the environment is dry. Humid environments will cause your flowers to spoil. Since this method is completely natural, there will be no change in the color of your flowers.

Freezing Flowers with Silica Gel

This material, which you can easily obtain from hardware stores, will dry your flowers by removing moisture thanks to its components.

Method of Drying Flowers in Sand

You can perform this process with extremely fine-grained, dust-free soil that has been dried in a shallow dish in the oven. Spread this soil in a container to a maximum depth of 5 cm, then place the flowers on top. Cover with another 5 cm of soil. With this process, depending on the type and form of the flower, you will achieve the desired result in 3 to 5 weeks.
