Aromatherapy - Floral Scents and Their Effects on Our Soul

What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is the power of using essential oils from plants to improve physical, emotional, and spiritual health. It is a completely natural method that uses essential oils from flowers and plants for massage, inhalation, compresses, or scenting spaces to promote physical and emotional well-being .

Aromatherapy from Past to Present
The history of aromatherapy oils dates back to Ancient Egypt. It is known that these aromatic oils were used in mummification processes in Ancient Egypt, and oils obtained from frankincense and myrrh were used to treat skin in ancient times.
During Roman times, rosemary sprigs were scattered on the ground during magnificent ceremonies, and the essential oils released as people walked over them would spread a pleasant fragrance. It is also known that during the same period, Romans used many flowers and herbs such as rose, lavender, thyme, and bay leaf in their famous bathing rituals.
We see that plant essential oils were used for medicinal purposes starting in the 17th century. However, as pharmacy developed in the 19th century, the production of synthetic drugs, which were less expensive, began, and the use of these plant essential oils gradually decreased. In 1937, the healing process that occurred after French chemist Maurice Gattefosse burned his hand while working in his laboratory brought these oils back into the spotlight. Immediately after burning his hand, Gattefosse used lavender oil that he had with him and observed that the wound healed rapidly. By examining plant essential oils more closely, he rediscovered their therapeutic properties.
Today, the most common use of aromatherapy is massage. Essential oils penetrate and are absorbed into the skin much more easily and effectively through massage.
