Flower Garden in a Jar - Making Jam with Flowers

Fragrant flowers are everywhere in our lives, from pots to tables! While fruit and vegetable jams are indispensable for our breakfast tables, why shouldn't there be flowers too? You will be surprised when you see flowers that are made into jam other than the rose we all know. Purple wisteria, poppy, lavender, lilac, jasmine, violet and elderflower are just a few of them. We have compiled the most beautiful and delicious flower jam recipes for you.

Purple Wisteria

500 gr purple wisteria flower

500 gr granulated sugar

2 glasses of water

Half a lemon

After plucking the purple wisteria flower from its branch, we separate the flower petals and put them in a bowl and cover them with water. After waiting for about half an hour, we wash them with plenty of water without damaging the flowers. We put 2 glasses of water and sugar in the pot, heat it until the syrup thickens and then add the purple wisteria. The flowers boiling in the syrup will cook in a short time. After cooking for about 10 minutes, add the juice of half a lemon and boil for a few more minutes. You can fill the jars with your jam after it has rested for a while. And your purple wisteria jam is ready! Enjoy your meal :)

Poppy

500 gr poppy flowers

500 gr granulated sugar

1 glass of water

1 teaspoon of lemon salt powder,

a little vanilla (with the tip of a teaspoon)

We clean the black parts at the bottom of the collected poppies and put them in a bowl and cover them with water. After waiting for about half an hour, we strain them without damaging the flowers and pour boiled water over them in a bowl. We put 1 glass of water and sugar in the pot, heat it until the syrup thickens and immediately add the boiled poppy flowers. When it reaches the right consistency, we add a little vanilla with the tip of a teaspoon and after a few minutes we add 1 teaspoon of lemon salt powder. The lemon salt will turn the color of the jam red. You can fill the jars with your jam after it has rested for a while. And your bright red poppy jam is ready! Enjoy your meal :)

Lavender

500-1000 gr lavender flowers

4 cups granulated sugar

3 cups water

half lemon

1-2 cloves (optional)

First of all, we need to separate the individual flowers of the lavenders we have collected or bought. This is a long step. We put the flowers we have separated in a bowl and cover them with water. After waiting for about half an hour, we strain them without damaging the flowers. We mix the lavender flowers we have cleaned with 2 cups of sugar and keep them in the refrigerator for 1 night.

The next day, we boil the remaining 2 cups of sugar and 3 cups of water in a pot, then we add the sugar-lavender mixture we have kept in the refrigerator to the pot. We boil it until it reaches the right consistency and then we add the juice of half a lemon and boil it a little more. You can fill your jam into jars after it has rested for a while. If you wish, you can add the cloves during the cooling phase. And your fragrant lavender jam is ready! Enjoy your meal :)
