Aromatherapy Flower Scents and Their Effects on Our Soul

What is Aroma Therapy?

Aromatherapy; It is the power of improving people's physical, emotional and spiritual health by using the essential oils of plants. Aromatherapy is a completely natural method that provides physical and emotional healing by using massage, steam, compresses or scenting spaces with the essential oils of flowers and plants.

Aromatherapy from Past to Present

The history of aromatherapy oils dates back to Ancient Egypt. It is known that these aromatic oils were used in mummification processes in Ancient Egypt, and the oils obtained from frankincense and myrrh were used to treat the skin in ancient times.

During the Roman period, rosemary branches were thrown on the ground during magnificent ceremonies, and the essential oils released as you walked over them spread a pleasant scent around. It is known that in the same period, the Romans used many flowers and herbs such as rose, lavender, thyme and laurel in their famous bathing pleasures.

We see that the essential oils of plants were used for therapeutic purposes as of the 17th century. However, as pharmacy developed in the 19th century, the production of lower-cost synthetic drugs began and the use of these herbal essential oils gradually decreased. In 1937, when French chemist Maurice Gattefosse burned his hand while working in his laboratory, the healing process brought these oils to the agenda again. Immediately after Gattefosse burned his hand, he used the lavender oil next to him and observed that the wound healed quickly. By examining herbal essential oils more closely, he rediscovers their therapeutic properties.

Nowadays, the most common use of aromatherapy is massage. Penetrating and absorbing herbal essential oils into the skin with massage is a much easier and more effective method.
